The borrowing/requesting library:§ Is responsible for the material from the time it leaves the supplying library until its safe return to the supplying library.
§ Is responsible for all charges and/or fees associated with a lost or damaged item according to the policy of the lending library. § Must establish and maintain an ILL/DDS policy. § Must ensure the confidentiality of the user. § Must transmit ILL/DDS requests electronically. § Must respect copyright laws. § Must respect due date/s. § Must notify the lending library of any cancellations in 48 hours from the time of the sent request § Must request a renewal before the item is due. § Must return an item immediately if it is recalled by the supplying library. § Must return material by registered mail or by courier. § Must pay the sending postage costs. § Must package the item to prevent damage in shipping. § Must verify holdings before sending requests to another library. |
The lending/supplying library:§ Must establish and maintain an ILL policy.
§ Must ensure the confidentiality of the user. § Must respond to ILL requests within 3 working days by filling or denying the request. § Must state the reason why a request is not filled. § Must pay the sending postage costs. § Must include a copy of the original request. § Must package the item to prevent damage in shipping. § Must state the due date or duration of the loan on the request form or on the material. § Check the due date of the material loaned out. If the date is very close, automatically renew for an additional two (2) weeks. The borrowing library should then be notified of the new due date. |
